Mexican avocado and mango producers grow more thanks to apps

Producers of citrus, avocados, mangos and some other export products have managed to minimize operating expenses that generate problems such as lack of water, meteorological events or limited investment resources, thanks to technology. One of the applications that producers work with is SupPlant, an app that helps farmers in 14 countries around the world and specifically in Mexico in the states of Michoacán, Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit and Sinaloa, solving various problems they have.

Among The most common issues that they find the app can help them with is how to improve irrigation and manage crops better.“We have a system that uses agronomic algorithms, sensors, artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud-based technology to achieve these goals. We have developed a data model using predictive algorithms based on the analysis of 100 million avocado data points, for example, but which we can also apply to different crops ”, Ori Ben Ner, CEO of SupPlant, told Expansión.

According to Avocados for Mexico, between 2019 and 2020, 950,000 tons of avocado were exported to the United States alone and about 78,000 direct jobs depend on this crop.
